Autocar is supplying Walmart with a fleet of battery-electric terminal tractors (E-ACTT). Walmart will receive the first of more than 20 E-ACTTs in May 2023, as the retailer says it is working toward achieving zero emissions across its operations by 2040.

Terminal tractors are built to handle tough jobs in distribution centers, shipping ports, and freight terminals, such as moving semi-trailers and other large cargo containers. The E-ACTT shares 85% of parts commonality with Autocar’s diesel ACTT and is purpose-built to have zero emissions, reduced maintenance costs, and a better return on investment, the company says.

“Autocar’s E-ACTT features the same rugged durability that customers have come to expect from Autocar, ensuring that Walmart can rely on these vehicles for years to come,” said Andrew Taitz, chairman of Autocar. “Every E-ACTT can work a 22-hour shift and is capable of recharging in as little as three hours.”
