Segway launched its first two electric bikes, the Xyber and Xafari, at CES 2025. The company said it designed these e-bikes to combine technology with performance features.
Xyber: Segway’s High-Performance Electric Bike
Segway designed the Xyber for riders seeking electrified exploration. This bike features a 6,000-watt direct-drive motor, which accelerates to 20 mph in just 2.7 seconds. The Xyber’s dual-battery system delivers a range of up to 112 miles. Riders can select from 12 levels of pedal-assist or three throttle-only modes: Eco, Sport, and Race.
The Xyber’s coil-sprung suspension and Tektro hydraulic disc brakes enhance control and comfort. Its durable 20 x 5.0-inch tires include flat-resistant inserts, ensuring reliability on tough terrain. Segway designed the Xyber for off-road use where road riding is restricted. A Class 2 e-bike-compliant version will arrive by late spring or early summer 2025.
Xafari: Segway’s All-Terrain Cruiser
Segway created the Xafari to deliver a comfortable all-terrain ride, it said. Its step-through frame and upright geometry make it ideal for various conditions. The Xafari runs on a removable 936Wh battery, providing a range of up to 88 miles.
The bike’s 26 x 3.0-inch tires handle diverse terrain, while suspension ensures a smooth ride. Segway added adjustable-height components like the seat, stem, handlebar, and display, accommodating riders between 5’1″ and 6’2″.
Enhancing Connectivity with Segway electric bikes at CES 2025
The Xyber and Xafari integrate the Segway Intelligent Ride System, which includes advanced features like AirLock wireless security and Apple Find My tracking. Segway’s IoT platform allows remote monitoring, while adaptive pedal assist and an intelligent lighting system enhance user experience. Riders can access health and fitness data in real-time, further adding value to the biking experience.
