Yokohama Rubber now supplies its ADVAN Sport EV tires as original equipment for the new LEAPMOTOR C16 SUV. Zhejiang Leapmotor Technology Co. launched this electric SUV in China in June 2024. The front tires measure 245/45R21 104V XL, while the rear tires are 255/45R21 106V XL.

High-Performance Features of ADVAN Sport EV Tires

Yokohama said it designed ADVAN Sport EV tires for premium electric vehicles, building on the technology of its ADVAN Sport V107 high-performance tire. These tires meet the unique demands of electric and electrified vehicles by:

• Reducing rolling resistance with a specialized compound;
• Improving wet performance through an advanced tread pattern.

These enhancements help lower electricity consumption while ensuring strong grip and handling in wet conditions, according to Yokohama. The tire’s sidewall features Yokohama’s “E+” mark, confirming its suitability for electric vehicles.

LEAPMOTOR C16: A Flagship EV SUV

The LEAPMOTOR C16 is a six-passenger SUV built for family and premium EV users. As LEAPMOTOR’s flagship model, it incorporates the company’s advanced “Four-Leaf Clover” electrical/electronic (E/E) architecture, which efficiently integrates and controls various vehicle systems.

Yokohama’s Strategy for EV Tire Expansion

Yokohama Rubber is executing its three-year medium-term management plan, Yokohama Transformation 2026 (YX2026), with a strong focus on high-value-added tires. This strategy includes:

• Expanding the ADVAN brand as a global leader in high-performance tires;
• Promoting GEOLANDAR tires for SUVs and pickup trucks as original equipment.

In China, Yokohama said it continues to strengthen its supply of EV and new energy vehicle tires. The company deepened its EV market commitment by forming a strategic alliance with LEAPMOTOR in July 2024.
