Daimler Truck North America LLC (DTNA) is integrating a battery-electric Freightliner eCascadia into its aftermarket operations with J.B. Hunt Transport Inc. This move builds on DTNA’s efforts to expand the use of electric trucks for its logistics operations, following implementations in the Pacific Northwest, North Carolina, and Mexico.
The Freightliner eCascadia will be part of J.B. Hunt’s fleet, delivering aftermarket parts from DTNA’s parts distribution center in Phoenix to multiple dealers along a dedicated route, covering approximately 100 miles daily. This marks the first all-electric route in the DTNA aftermarket parts distribution network, the company said. A Detroit eFill charger was installed at DTNA’s Phoenix facility, the first charging station at a DTNA parts distribution center.
J.B. Hunt piloted the eCascadia in 2020. DTNA said it is analyzing future expansion opportunities to electrify additional routes and further reduce its logistics operations’ carbon footprint. J.B. Hunt will evaluate its utilization of the charging station for other customers in the area.
