Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) introduced its first electric articulated haulers as part of its zero-emission lineup. The company also offers combustion engine options for all zero-emission models, it said. Alongside the product launch, Volvo CE unveiled new service solutions that boost productivity, efficiency, and sustainability, it said.
Volvo CE presented its first zero-emission-only lineup at the Bauma show in Munich from April 7–13.
“This zero-emission lineup is a marker of our commitment to drive change. We show that we stand alongside our customers to support them across every stage of their journey,” said Melker Jernberg, President of Volvo CE. “We show that we are committed to our ambitions, not just because we can, but because it is the right thing to do.”
Volvo Debuts Electric Articulated Haulers
Volvo CE launched the A30 Electric as the highlight of its electric platform. As the first serial-produced electric articulated hauler in its size class, the A30 Electric will become available for rent in select European markets in 2026. Volvo will also offer the larger A40 Electric for quarrying, mining, and construction customers.
Combustion Options and Fuel Efficiency Remain
Volvo CE said it continues to support its customers with combustion engine options on all zero-emission models. These engines provide up to 15% better fuel efficiency, giving customers reliable alternatives as they shift to sustainable operations.
To complement its electric lineup, Volvo CE introduced upgraded digital tools, a new Load Ticket invoicing feature, and two major services:
- Site Operations for brand-agnostic fleet monitoring;
- Site Optimization for advisory-based jobsite efficiency.
Customers also interacted with Volvo experts at the Solutions Bar to tailor the right package for their businesses.
Expanded Electric Equipment and Charging Support
Volvo’s updated EC230 Electric excavator now delivers a full day of use per charge. The enhanced compact electric range supports lower emissions and new business opportunities. Volvo also introduced the PU500 Power Unit, which enables fast mobile charging for both Volvo and non-Volvo equipment.
New models include the EWR150 Electric, Volvo’s first battery-powered wheeled excavator, and the EW240 Electric Material Handler, a grid-connected solution that adds to the brand’s evolving electric portfolio.
