Kia America introduced the all-new 2026 Kia EV4 sedan at the New York International Auto Show. The compact Kia EV4 sedan aims to expand Kia’s electrified vehicle portfolio and increase electric vehicle adoption through design, technology, range, and flexibility, it said. The EV4 marks Kia’s first global EV sedan.
Design and Platform
Kia built the EV4 on a 400V Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which supports multiple Kia EV models. This compact vehicle offers a new take on traditional sedan design, expanding options in a market dominated by crossovers and SUVs.
“The EV4 makes all-electric ownership accessible for customers seeking a more practical and affordable option,” said Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America. “The arrival of the EV4 underscores Kia’s overall efforts to enhance the appeal of electric mobility to a wider audience. An audience that’s now ready to experience the outstanding benefits for themselves.”
Kia will offer the EV4 in three trim levels: Light, Wind, and GT-Line. Production is underway at Kia’s Autoland Gwangmyeong EVO Plant in South Korea. U.S. sales will start in the first quarter of 2026.
Kia EV4 Sedan Offers Powertrain Choices and Fast Charging
Kia offers two battery options for the EV4 sedan: a standard 58.3 kWh battery (Light) and a long-range 81.4 kWh battery (Wind, GT-Line). Both configurations power a front-mounted 150 kW motor. The EV4 Light and Wind models have an estimated range of 235 miles and 330 miles, respectively.
Kia said engineers focused on aerodynamics, achieving a drag coefficient as low as 0.23 Cd. The EV4 supports DC fast charging, capable of charging from 10- to 80% in approximately 29 minutes for the 58.3 kWh battery and 31 minutes for the 81.4 kWh battery.
Connectivity and Driver Assistance Features of the Kia EV4 Sedan
The EV4 sedan features Kia’s Digital Key 2.0, allowing access via a compatible smartphone or mobile device. The nearly 30-inch combined wide-screen display includes dual 12.3-inch screens and a five-inch climate display. The system supports over-the-air updates and offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Kia equipped the EV4 with a suite of advanced driver assistance features, such as Highway Driving Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, and Lane Following Assist. Standard Hands-On Detection senses contact between the driver’s hands and the steering wheel for activation and deactivation of ADAS warnings.
