Lucid Group has announced details about Lucid Gravity powertrain and charging technology, including a NACS charging port. Starting now, the Gravity will have access to the Tesla Supercharger network in the U.S. and Canada, without an adapter.
“Lucid Gravity is the first SUV that truly compromises nothing,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO of Lucid. “It reimagines what an SUV can be, offering an unprecedented combination of comfort and space, ride and handling, practicality and range, and with today’s announcements, exceptional charging performance and convenience. With seating for up to seven full-size adults and space for their luggage, the Lucid Gravity truly is the ultimate vehicle for the whole family.”
Lucid Gravity Fast Charging Technology
“Lucid Gravity offers next-level fast charging speeds and seamless access to the top charging networks including Tesla Superchargers and Electrify America,” said Emad Dlala, VP of Powertrain at Lucid. “To enable this experience for our customers, we developed new, unique technology to allow the 926V Lucid Gravity to charge seamlessly at up to 400 kW on 1000V charging equipment and at sustained speeds of up to 225 kW on 500V architecture fast chargers, including Tesla V3 Superchargers.”
Lucid has developed and patented technology using its proprietary rear motor drive unit to boost the charging voltage from 500V to 926V. This allows for efficient utilization of electrical current and reduced cable heat. This technology ensures compatibility with 500V and 1000V charging networks, offering maximum charging speed. At peak rates, the vehicle can add 200 miles in less than 12 minutes.
First Non-Tesla Vehicle with NACS Charge Port
The Lucid Gravity is the first non-Tesla vehicle with a NACS charge port. This is located on the rear driver’s side for easy access to V3 and V4 Tesla Superchargers. Lucid includes adapters for CCS1 to NACS and SAE J1772 to NACS, with the CCS1 adapter rated to charge at 500A with 1000V.
Powertrain and Long-Range Capabilities of the Lucid Gravity
The Lucid Gravity features a high-performance 926V powertrain platform. This enables fast charging speeds up to 400 kW with a 123 kWh battery. An advanced cooling system supports sustained charging performance and long-distance towing. The vehicle has a new Panasonic battery cell with chemistry enhancements developed in collaboration with Panasonic. This, combined with Lucid’s drive units and systems integration, results in up to 450 miles of EPA-estimated range, fast charging capability, and long service life.
The EV supports bi-directional charging up to 80 A at 19.2 kW with the NACS charge port. RangeXchange, available on Lucid Air, enables charging another electric vehicle via the NACS connector with an optional cable.
Lucid Gravity is available for order at Lucidmotors.com/gravity. Touring models are expected to be available in late 2025 starting at $79,900. Grand Touring options are available now starting at $94,900.
