Mack Trucks announced the addition of 12 new Certified Electric Vehicle (EV) dealer locations, bringing its total to 65 EV-certified locations in North America. The company now has certified EV dealer locations in 29 states and four Canadian provinces, marking a 23% increase in certified locations since May. Certification requirements for the Mack Trucks EV dealer network
Achieving EV certification involves significant dealer investment in infrastructure and expertise. Dealers must complete comprehensive technical training programs, upgrade facilities with high-capacity charging infrastructure, and maintain specialized safety protocols. Many certified locations have also established dedicated EV support teams to assist customers with route planning, charging strategies, and accessing available incentives.
Mack electric vehicles
The Mack LR Electric refuse truck, with a 376 kWh battery capacity and 4,051 lb.-ft. of peak torque, is designed for demanding applications. It features a copper-colored Bulldog hood ornament, signifying its fully electric drivetrain powered by four NMC lithium-ion batteries. These batteries are charged through a 150kW SAEJ1772-compliant charging system, which powers the vehicle propulsion and onboard accessories through integrated 12V, 24V, and 600V circuits. The truck’s two-stage regenerative braking system maximizes energy efficiency by recapturing power during frequent stops.
The Mack MD Electric, available in Class 6 and Class 7 configurations, is gaining popularity in urban delivery applications. It offers flexible battery options (150kWh or 240kWh) and is exempt from the 12% Federal Excise Tax, making it an attractive option for fleet operators looking to electrify their operations.
Financing solutions
To support the transition to electric vehicles, Mack offers financing solutions through Mack Financial Services, including:
- The ElectriFi Subscription program for MD Electric models;
- Bundled payments covering vehicles, charging infrastructure, and maintenance;
- The Ultra Service Agreement, standard with LR Electric models, providing complete vehicle support.
