Stellantis will adjust the launch timing of its range-extended Ram 1500 Ramcharger. The adjusted date is now ahead of the Ram 1500 REV, the company’s first battery-electric light-duty pickup truck. Earlier, the Ram brand initially planned to launch the Ram 1500 REV in the first half of 2025.
Launch Decision
The decision to release the Ramcharger first was influenced by significant consumer interest, the need to maintain a competitive edge in technology, and a decrease in industry demand for half-ton battery-electric vehicles (BEVs).
Production and Launch Timeline
The Ramcharger will be available for consumer orders in the first half of 2025, with the Ram 1500 REV set to launch in 2026. Also, the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan will continue as the primary production site for the Ram 1500. This includes both electrified and internal combustion engine versions, playing a crucial role in introducing this technology to the market.
Specifications of the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger
The company says the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger, with a targeted range of up to 690 miles, exemplifies Ram’s commitment to offering advanced gas and electric vehicles. It features a 92-kilowatt-hour battery pack, a 130 kW generator, and electric drive modules providing power to the front and rear. Also, the vehicle supports bi-directional charging, allowing it to charge other Stellantis BEVs or supply power to the grid. Performance targets include a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds, 663 horsepower, and over 615 lb.-ft. of torque, a towing capacity of up to 14,000 pounds with a class 5 hitch, and a maximum payload capacity of 2,625 pounds.
