Toyota has unveiled the 2026 Toyota bZ, a redesigned battery electric vehicle (BEV) that builds on the bZ4X platform with improved range, output, and charging features. With a new name, larger battery options, and enhanced performance, the bZ represents Toyota’s next step in all-electric mobility.
The highlight is a larger 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery, standard on the XLE FWD Plus, XLE AWD, and Limited (FWD/AWD) models. This setup delivers a manufacturer-estimated range of up to 314 miles on a full charge. A 57.7-kWh battery will remain available on the base XLE FWD, offering a 236-mile range.
EV Charging Speed and Compatibility Upgrades for the 2026 Toyota bZ
The 2026 Toyota bZ will feature a North American Charging System (NACS) port, giving drivers access to Tesla’s Supercharger network and other fast-charging stations. Under optimal conditions, DC fast charging takes the vehicle from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes. Plug & Charge functionality is also included for seamless authentication at select networks.
Battery pre-conditioning and a thermal management system further optimize charging in colder climates.
More Power, Quicker Acceleration
Power output sees a significant bump, especially on AWD models, Toyota said. Toyota’s upgraded eAxles with silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors help the AWD versions reach 338 combined horsepower, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in about 5 seconds. Front-wheel-drive models now deliver up to 221 horsepower, up from 201 hp.
