Clarios, a manufacturer of low-voltage batteries, has been awarded the inaugural “Excellence in Sustainability” award by ATR International. ATR International is a trading group in the automotive aftermarket. It also acts as a concept provider and developer for workshop systems. In Europe, Clarios’ premium brand for automotive batteries is VARTA.
Reasons for the Clarios Sustainability Award
According to ATR International, Clarios received the “Excellence in Sustainability” award for:
- Establishing a best-in-class circular economy with a global footprint;
- Demonstrating strong engagement in the transformation of sustainable mobility solutions.
Industry Recognition
“The award shows that our efforts towards sustainability are acknowledged both within the industry and by our customers. Clarios being the first recipient of this ATR award is a notable achievement,” said Theres Gosztonyi, VP Aftermarket EMEA at Clarios.
Bernd Evers, Sales Director EMEA; Lisa Klein, Director Brand Marketing EMEA; and Alexander Bruchwald, Senior International Key Account Manager, accepted the award on behalf of Clarios at the “ATR International Preferred ATR Suppliers (IPAS) Forum” during the Motorworld Region Stuttgart, Germany, in Dec. 2024. This forum is ATR International’s platform to honor its most important suppliers.
Commitment to Sustainability
Clarios demonstrates its expertise in the closed-loop lead recycling process. In 2023, Clarios received the International Sustainability Award. The company recycles 8,000 used batteries every hour across its network. Clarios designs its lead-acid batteries so that they can recover, recycle, and reuse all of the battery materials to make new batteries or other products.
