Electra Vehicles launched EVE-Ai (range expert and fleet analytics modules), an AI software designed to enhance battery performance management, improve EV battery range accuracy, and enable predictive alerts for maintenance needs and failures in EV fleet vehicles, according to the company. The new software, which leverages advanced AI algorithms to provide real-time, personalized insights, was premiered at the Move 2024 exhibition in London.
Electra said its new range expert module has a battery range error rate of less than 1%, ten times less than the average error rate of 10% in EV range estimation. Given that most electric vehicle users (54%) worry about unreliable battery ranges, Electra Vehicles said it believes the integration of this software will significantly reduce range anxiety among prospective EV buyers.
“Our technology collects and integrates information from external sources such as traffic, road conditions, and the weather, alongside internal battery data such as the temperature and degradation, and combines this with the users’ driving styles to provide a customized experience for every driver,” said Giovanni Rossi, Electra Vehicles director of marketing and communications.
“Our ML-based AI algorithm processes all this data through the cloud, delivering outputs on the vehicle screen such as target energy remaining at the destination, precise trip energy consumption, precise ETA, and battery health status,” he continued.
Electra Vehicles said the EVE-Ai range expert module keeps drivers informed with personalized information and provides:
- Real-time customized insights: Energy estimates to help drivers reach their destinations efficiently and charge when necessary to save time and prevent range anxiety. Electra Vehicles said the EVE-Ai range expert module adapts to individual driving styles by incorporating battery and external data.
- Predictive maintenance strategies: Thanks to data collection and machine learning algorithms, the EVE-Ai module can detect faults and recommend preventive maintenance up to three months in advance.
- Improved battery safety and reliability: Insights from EVE-Ai reduce EV maintenance costs and increase reliability and safety, extending battery life by up to 40%, Electra Vehicles said.
Electra Vehicles said the newly launched EVE-Ai fleet analytics module also delivers benefits to fleet managers, including alerts for when an EV fleet battery is at risk of failure or needs maintenance — up to three months in advance. EVE-Ai uses an algorithm to monitor and analyze data from both internal and external environments of fleet vehicles, enabling fleet managers to predict failures and maintenance, while also providing visibility into each vehicle, and overall fleet health trends, according to Electra Vehicles.
Electra Vehicles said the EVE-Ai fleet analytics module provides:
- Accurate fleet monitoring: Real-time monitoring of battery state of health (SoH), state of charge (SoC), and remaining useful life (RUL) are used to monitor assets.
- Predictive fault detection and maintenance: Data collection and machine learning enable maintenance predictions up to three months in advance, reducing downtime and costs by up to 30%, Electra Vehicles said.
- Extended battery life: EVE-Ai extends battery life by up to 40%, providing cost savings, safety and reliability, Electra Vehicles said.
According to Electra Vehicles, the EVE-Ai system offers benefits for OEMs, enhancing customer engagement and brand positioning by providing insights and information to EV customers. Electra Vehicles said the new technology:
- Improves customer engagement and brand positioning: Personalized experiences for drivers increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Increases sales targets: Tackling range anxiety can boost EV adoption and sales by up to 10%, Electra Vehicles said.
- Reduces production costs: OEMs can save on EV production costs with additional insights and optimization capabilities.
