Duke Energy Florida launched three EV programs—the Charger Prep Credit, Off-Peak Charging Credit, and Fleet Advisory programs. The company said these programs provide residential and business customers with more options for electric vehicle (EV) adoption.
“EVs help save on fuel and maintenance costs for drivers. They also have significant economic and environmental benefits,” said Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president. “Our goal with these programs is to make EVs more accessible for all of our customers.”
Charger Prep Credit Helps Fund Infrastructure Upgrades
Through the Charger Prep Credit program, Duke Energy said it offers a one-time credit to residential and business customers. The company said this will help cover installation costs for EV charging infrastructure. Eligible costs include electric plug-in outlets, wiring upgrades, and other electrical improvements needed to support Level 2 or higher EV chargers. Customers cannot apply the credit toward charging hardware, software, or permit fees.
Duke Energy EV Programs Off-Peak Charging Credit
The Off-Peak Charging Credit program gives residential customers $7.50 off their monthly bills if they charge their EVs during off-peak hours. These hours run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday, plus all day on weekends and holidays. Duke Energy Florida transitioned this popular pilot into a permanent program.
Fleet Advisory Program Offers Business Incentives
Businesses can take advantage of the Fleet Advisory program, which offers up to $12,000 to offset the cost of an EV fleet study. This study assesses the benefits of electrifying fleet vehicles, such as lowering emissions, reducing operating costs, and increasing efficiency. To qualify, fleets must include at least 20 light-duty vehicles, five medium/heavy-duty vehicles, or a mix totaling at least 10 vehicles.
With these Duke Energy EV programs, the company said it aims to accelerate EV adoption while helping customers and businesses manage costs and reduce carbon footprints.
