Electric Era has launched a new EV charging retail platform — Retailer AI. According to the company, it uses artificial intelligence (AI) and a voice-activated user interface to enhance the EV charging experience. The platform offers personalized concierge services and new retail engagement opportunities.
Quincy Lee, founder and CEO of Electric Era and a former SpaceX engineer, sees limitless long-term opportunities for Retailer AI.
“As more retailers enter the EV charging space, they’re becoming hyper-focused on their customers’ charging experiences. They want those interactions to be brand focused and purposeful,” Lee said. “Retailer AI lays the foundation to take a customer’s EV charging experience to entirely new dimensions by providing retailers a platform to completely reimagine their engagement.”
Retailer AI extends retailers’ brand presence and creates a customer interface, targeting convenience stores, grocers, and restaurants. The platform enables features such as voice-guided concierge services, instant ordering on the charging screen, and loyalty-based discounts.
Enhancing EV Charging Retail Platform Experiences
Electric Era will roll out the EV charging retail platform at select charging stations later in 2025.
The Retailer AI journey starts when an EV driver arrives at an Electric Era charging station. The system recognizes vehicles and assesses situational needs, including battery state of charge and applicable loyalty programs.
As the voice-activated interaction continues, Retailer AI acts as a personal concierge. It helps customers locate nearby restaurants, shopping centers, or points of interest while also displaying EV charging status and payment transactions.
Retailer AI also connects with the retailer’s point-of-sale systems, allowing customers to shop or place orders directly from the screen or via voice.
“With the widespread adoption of EVs, we need to open up opportunities for retailers to leverage charging as an opportunity to attract and retain new customers,” Lee said. “We’re expanding business opportunities with an ever-expanding charging platform designed for retailers.”
Retailers Benefit from New EV Charging Strategy
Electric Era was founded to decarbonize and electrify transportation at retail locations. The company uses battery-backed technology to shorten installation time and reduce operational costs.
Electric Era designs and installs each charging station as a retailer-branded application and provides ongoing maintenance for retailers nationwide, including Costco, Giant Eagle, and Skycharger.
With patented battery-backed technology, Electric Era cuts installation time by 50% and reduces retrofit time by 75%. The company achieves 90% session reliability and 99% per-port uptime, it said.
