Group1 has formed a strategic partnership with Uncountable, a provider of R&D data management solutions. Established last December, Group1 said the partnership has notably hastened its research and development process.
According to Group1, it has made its mark through its potassium-ion battery (KIB) material technology. Its reputation stems from producing KIBs powered by Kristonite, a 4V cathode material. Group1’s ongoing tech developments for KIBs aim to offer a safe, high-performing, and sustainable alternative to lithium-ion batteries that don’t rely on critical minerals like cobalt, lithium, or nickel, the company said.
In the face of a complex, multi-stage workflow that generates vast datasets (from cathode material synthesis to cell testing performance), Group1 said it needed the tools to manage and analyze structure-process-property relationships and expedite its material development process. Group1 turned to Uncountable’s platform as the key to achieving these objectives, it said.
“Uncountable’s platform provides centralized data management and predictive ML capabilities, all tailored to Group1’s needs,” Group1’s CSO and co-founder, Dr. Yakov Kutsovsky, said. “We plan to complement it with high-throughput material synthesis and testing capabilities currently under development. These efforts will result in a ‘flywheel of innovation’ for materials and cell development, thus strengthening the G1Smart platform.”
Group1 said the alliance between it and Uncountable underscores the potential of coupling technology with data solutions. Thanks to Uncountable’s data management system, Group1 said it will streamline its R&D efforts, and its product development process, enhancing research efficiency, and significantly accelerating its time to market.
