U.S. owners of Hyundai KONA Electric, IONIQ Electric hatchback, IONIQ 5, and IONIQ 6 models equipped with a Combined Charging System (CCS) port can access 20,000 Tesla Superchargers in the United States using a North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter. Hyundai owners who purchased their vehicles on or before January 31, will start receiving emails with instructions on how to redeem their Hyundai Tesla Supercharger access adapters beginning the week of April 7.
DC Fast-Charging Adapter for EVs
Hyundai designed a DC fast-charging adapter specifically for its battery electric vehicles, including those on its e-GMP high voltage platform. This development nearly doubles the availability of DC fast-charging stations for Hyundai models.
Hyundai provides complimentary CCS-to-NACS adapters to eligible owners of the following models:
“More Hyundai EV customers will have access to 20,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America, doubling their fast-charging options,” said Olabisi Boyle, senior vice president, product planning and mobility strategy, Hyundai Motor North America. “This move improves the public charging experience by giving our customers even more choice. It’s a vital part of our commitment to ease America’s transition to electric vehicle ownership.”
Accelerating EV Adoption
Hyundai said it advances electric vehicle adoption by:
- Offering EVs with competitive charging speeds;
- Including native NACS ports on the 2025 IONIQ 5, upcoming 2026 IONIQ 9, and future EVs;
- Increasing U.S. EV and battery production in Savannah, GA;
- Expanding out-of-home EV charging support through the new IONNA joint-venture high-speed charging network;
- Providing opportunities for out-of-home charging credit or a complimentary Level 2 Home charger with installation via Hyundai Home.
Hyundai Tesla Supercharger Access
Eligible Hyundai EV owners must follow these steps to receive a fast-charging adapter:
- Own an eligible Hyundai EV purchased or leased on or before January 31.
- Maintain an active MyHyundai.com owner’s account and opt into receiving emails.
- Look for an email from Hyundai starting now to verify customer information.
- Review and confirm the adapter offer and usage terms and conditions.
- Confirm or update the shipping address to receive the adapter.
- Await a confirmation email and tracking number once Hyundai ships the adapter.
Future Hyundai EV models, like the refreshed 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5, will feature built-in NACS ports, removing the need for an adapter. This offer applies to qualified Hyundai Motor America EV customers. Hyundai Motor Canada will release additional details about Supercharger access and adapter availability for Canadian EV owners later this year.
