TECO Electric & Machinery recently spotlighted its electric drive systems at ACT Expo. The TECO Group showcased a lineup of products and services that include TECO electric drive systems for EV powertrains and high-power DC fast charging stations.
TECO Chairman Morris Li emphasized the company’s focus on EV powertrains and charging infrastructure as key strategic goals. The latest products combine TECO’s technological and manufacturing strengths from Taiwan and the U.S., reinforcing its expansion into international markets.
TECO Unveils EVK Hairpin Motor for Commercial Vehicles
TECO acquired EVK Motor at the end of last year. EVK’s third-generation hairpin motor features thermal design, high power density, and peak efficiency of 97.8%. Making its public debut, the motor includes an integrated oil pump and radiator and weighs under 55 kilograms. It delivers 50–300 kW of power and 150–550 Nm of torque.
TECO designed the motor for electric axle systems in medium and large commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks. The design improves mobility while addressing space, weight, and capacity constraints. TECO plans to target the commercial vehicle markets in Europe and North America.
Smart Chargers and Portable Power Expand TECO Electric Drive Systems
TECO-Westinghouse and NexE introduced 30kW and 60kW DC fast chargers and the PowerCube portable EV power distribution system. These DC chargers offer high output, smart charging features, and renewable energy integration to reduce charging time and boost energy efficiency. TECO confirmed that its charging portfolio ranges from 30kW to 480kW.
TECO-Westinghouse set up a charger assembly line in its Texas facility to support public-sector clients such as school bus fleets.
Targeting Global Markets with EV Powertrain Expansion
TECO continues investing in EV powertrain systems with a global strategy across Taiwan, North America, India, Europe, and China. In Taiwan, TECO powers 80% of electric bus powertrain systems and supplies the country’s first hydrogen bus using a 235kW SiC direct-drive system.
For India, TECO shipped prototypes in Q1 and will begin mass production of its 200kW and 235kW direct-drive systems in Q3. In North America, TECO focuses on electric buses and trucks as its primary market segments.
